Hookah Tips
- Try putting ice cubes in the glass base of
your hookah and get the water ice cold before
smoking. This makes a smoother more enjoyable
smoking experience.
- Try mixing lemon juice, orange juice, or some
other flavor into the water in your glass base. It
will enhance the taste of your hookah smoking
experience.
- Store your Shishah tobacco at room temperature
but it must remain in an air tight container (i.e. jar,
original packaging, etc.). This will keep your
tobacco from drying up and losing its flavor.
- When you first start smoking your hookah, try
placing the charcoal on the outside of the bowl and
working it around the edges of the bowl. The center
of the bowl should be the last place your charcoal
is placed.
- Some people smoke the hookah like you would
smoke a cigar while other inhale the smoke. Neither
way is more correct than the other. It's a
preference thing.
- Some prefer to use liquid other than water on
the hookah base. Experiment with juice, and milk (to
make the smoke thicker).
- Because of it's consistency, Shishah tends to
clump up. Before you pack the bowl, crumble it up in
your fingers to spread it out throughout the bowl.
- Once you get the bowl packed, take a small
square of aluminum foil, big enough to cover the
open top of the bowl. Wrap the foil over the top so
that the surface is tight. Use a toothpick or
something else very small to poke a bunch of tiny
holes in the foil. Place the charcoal on the foil
once its lit. It will still burn the Shishah, but it
keeps any charcoal taste out.
- When you place the foil tightly over the
hookah bowl, make sure the shiny side is facing
down so it will retain more heat from the charcoal.
- Try putting cold milk instead of water to
make the smoke thicker. Experiment with different
liquids.
- Combining different flavors of Shishah can be
very satisfying. Banana and strawberry is very good,
so is lemon and mango.
- After you're done poking your holes in the
foil, cover the top of the clay bowl with the palm
of your hand and blow through the bottom of the
bowl, then release your hand and blow just a little
longer. This prevents any Shishah from getting into
the holes of the bowl and makes your hookah pull
better.
- Combining Shishah with honey can provide
satisfying hookah smoke.
- Try to avoid putting your hookah above the
floor, this will ensure the stability of your hookah
when smoking.
- Replace the water in the glass base after
every use.
- Clean the shaft from time to time with brush
to avoid clogging and harsh tasting smoke.
- If using normal charcoal, break the charcoal
into four equal parts, light all four pieces and
wait until they are red hot then place them on the
outer edges of the bowl to form a square shape. Take
consistent small puffs until the tobacco starts
burning. Slowly move the charcoals towards the
middle throughout your smoke session. This will burn
the tobacco evenly and will prevent the smoke from
getting harsh.
- When using aluminum foil, poke smaller and
twice as many holes in the foil to allow slower burn
of charcoal and tobacco.
- Before placing the clay bowl back on the
hookah blow on the opposite end of the bowl to
loosen up the tobacco pieces even more to allow
better air flow.
- Blow several times into the hose as hard as
possible to get the grit out before, after and if
necessary, during a hookah session. It is an
extremely effective way to prevent nasty stuff from
going down your throat.
We hope you find your hookah smoking soothing and
relaxing.
